The CMA CGM Marco Polo has made her first European call at Southampton.

As Joop Mijland, Director Intermodal Europeexplains : “Southampton is one of the most important ports in the United Kingdom in terms of volumes handled. Ideal for connections from India and China, it offers reliability and security due to its location, and is the first port of call on the FAL 1 lines’ routes. The Group also maintains excellent relations with operators based in Southampton to ensure the high standard of quality required for its customers.

For the CMA CGM Group, Southampton is a preferred access point for onward transport to inland markets as it has an extensive network of particularly competitive rail and road connections, including a daily service to Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester.”

Southampton, the first European port of call benefits from the fastest transit times on the market, a major “plus” on this service for British customers (Ningbo: 33 days, Shanghai: 31 days, Xiamen: 28 days, Hong Kong: 27 days, Chiwan: 26 days, Yantian: 25 days and Port Klang: 18 days). Ideal for connections from India and China, it offers reliability and security due to its location.
